Since our founding in 1987, the Columbia Festival of the Arts has enhanced the cultural life of Marylanders by presenting a brand new season of world class events each June. Comprised of an eclectic mix of visual arts, music, dance, theater, literature, comedy, film and family activities over a 16-day period, the Festival shines a spotlight, not only on the arts, but on the Howard County community as a Maryland showplace.
What you may not know is that the price of a ticket to a Festival theatre performance is merely a portion of the total cost associated with presenting that performance. During the 2009 season, on average each patron would have been required to pay an additional $17.00 per ticket to cover all direct artistic, production and technical costs associated with the performances. To subsidize ticket pricing and to pay for the myriad of free events offered annually, we rely on a variety of funding sources – grantors, individual donors and corporate sponsors – to help us to sustain our mission.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit, we are dependent upon the generous support from people like you. Most importantly, this financial support – be it a large or smaller amount – enables the Festival to share the wonder and beauty of the arts with people across a broad spectrum of social, economic and cultural strata.
I hope you will consider joining us in this endeavor by contributing to the Festival today.
