LakeFest: A Weekend of Free Events for the Whole Family

With art exhibits, music, kids’ entertainment and crafts, demonstrations and a variety of activities for all ages, it’s a jam-packed weekend guaranteed to be fun for everyone!

The lakefront is the place to be all weekend long, featuring exciting musical performances, including the rousing and raucous Celtic fusion of the award-winning Scythian and the sweet blue-eyed soul of singer/songwriter Eric Lindell.

Summer Times  

Friday, June 11
Once again the Festival has called upon local artists to put their creativity to work for this year’s community art project by transforming custom-made wood boxes and clockworks into three-dimensional, one-of-a-kind works of art to be unveiled on Friday evening, June 11. The clocks will be on display and on sale at LakeFest and at various venues throughout the Festival.

 
BookFest at LakeFest - A Literary Weekend  
Friday, June 11 - Sunday, June 13

In partnership with the Columbia Archives, the Howard County Poetry and Literature Society, Little Patuxent Review magazine and the Howard County Library.

With book sales all weekend

 
Chalk-It-Up Contest  

In partnership with Howard County Tourism & Promotion

Enter our 6th annual Chalk-It-Up street painting contest to win cash prizes - $750, $500 or $200! $12 Entry fee includes chalk.

 
7th Annual Kinetic Art Parade  

Saturday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday morning kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with this quirky and colorful parade. Arrive early for the best parking and to stake out a prime spot along the route to see the wacky entries in the kinetic art contest, hear the bands play, laugh at the clowns, and cheer for your favorite!

 
KidzArt Tent  

Saturday, June 12 - Sunday, June 14
Children aged five and up are invited to explore the visual arts with unique activities provided by KidzArt, Howard County’s celebrated advocates of child creativity. Tent adjacent to the American City Building. On-site registration is suggested as space is limited. Parents must accompany children.

Our juried, invitational art show and sale returns with more than 65 artisans displaying and selling their one-of-a-kind artwork - many favorites plus over 35 new artists this year. Featuring a breadth of media including functional and wearable art and a wide range of prices.

 
7th Annual Howard County Boat Float  

Saturday, June 12 at 1:00 p.m.
The competition heats up on the lake as teams test the seaworthiness of their creations in the Howard County Rotarian’s cardboard boat regatta.

 
Courtyard Concert Series  

FREE outdoor concerts all summer!

 
LakeStage Lineup  

The LakeStage will be jamming all weekend long as the Festival features the best in local, regional and national touring artists. From folk to blues, rock n' roll to reggae, there is a band for everyone's taste. Come on down and let the good times roll.
