Lakefest: A Weekend of Free Events for All Ages

With entertainment, art exhibits, music, balloon artists, clowns, kids’ craft projects, demonstrations and a variety of activities for all ages, it’s a jam-packed event guaranteed to be fun for everyone!
The lakefront is the place to be all weekend long (June 12-14) with exciting musical performances and daily shows by Cirque-tacular – performing stunning aerial feats and other circus favorites.
- On Friday night, the winners of the K-12 poster contest will be recognized at a 6:00 ceremony in the covered pavilion at the Columbia Town Center lakefront.
- The Summer Reflections Community Art Project will be featured at the Lakefront from Friday – Sunday. Two-dimensional wood framed mirrors have been transformed into three-dimensional works of art and will be available for sale throughout the weekend.
- Don’t miss the Free Kids’ Crafts activity tent for children over the age of five on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Activities will include yarn painting, creating sun catchers, making clay model boats, experimenting with copper sheeting to make a mask and much more.
- BookFest at LakeFest – A Literary Weekend featuring regional authors in readings and book signings runs from Friday – Sunday.
- ArtPark – Fine Art & Crafts Show and Sale will be open on Saturday and Sunday in the Wincopin Circle garage and from Friday – Sunday at various locations throughout the Lakefront.
- The Saint Agnes Kinetic Art Parade will step off on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. down Little Patuxent Parkway featuring wacky entries in the kinetic art contest, bands playing and clowns entertaining.
- On Saturday and Sunday, marvel at the sight of Cirque-tactular, a heart stopping display of aerialists, acrobats, contortionists, fire artists, illusionists and indescribable feats.
- Chalk-It-Up is back for the 5th year, with opportunities to create a street painting masterpiece. Chalk-It-Up will be open on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
- And the main stage will feature performances by musicians such as 3fifths, The Players Band, The Sauce Boss, Fools and Horses, Black 47 and the Glenelg Jazz Ensemble.
