Entries Now Being Accepted for Cinema Columbia

Monday, May 17, 2010 - Nichole Hickey

Following the success of our inaugural community-based film project, Cinema Columbia returns with an all-new format.  The Festival is challenging all aspiring filmmakers to create and submit an original short film to be screened during the Festival.  The only requirement is that the film is to include one artistic discipline included in the Festival’s 2010 season.

The registration deadline is May 28, 2010 and the submission deadline for the final film is due on June 14, 2010.

The winner will be selected by a Festival jury led by Columbia's own Robert Neal Marshall.  Robert is a writer, director and actor who has appeared in leading roles on several major stage, television and film projects, including as FDNY Captain Jay Jonas in the Emmy Nominated COUNTDOWN TO GROUND ZERO for the History Channel and a recurring role as John Zaffis in A HAUNTING for The Discovery Channel.  Additionally, an audience favorite will be selected by film fans in attendance at the screening.

Entry forms and additional information are available on the Columbia Festival of the Arts website at www.columbiafestival.com/cinemaColumbiaForm.aspx.

The film screenings will be held on Monday, June 21, 7:00 p.m. at the Monteabaro Hall, Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College.

The Columbia Festival of the Arts will be held June 11-26, 2010.  The schedule and ticket information is available at www.columbiafestival.com or by calling the office at 410-715-3044.
